A member of the newly constituted board of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Mr. Harry Yachi, has assured that the former Nigerian champions would enjoy one of their best seasons in the topflight despite the draw with Akwa United in their opening match of the season.
This is coming on the heels of the fears being entertained by a section of the club’s fans that the late dissolution of the past management by the state government would hamper the chances of Lobi Stars in the ongoing season.
It will be recalled that less than 48-hours to their week one match with Akwa United, the Benue State governor, Rev. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, dissolved the past board and constituted a new one chaired by the Benue Director of Sports, Dr. Philip Nongu.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Yachi expressed satisfaction with the performance of the team against Akwa United as he blamed the barren draw on ill-luck.

He said: “The boys wanted to welcome the new board with a positive result but luck deserted them so they had to settle for a draw.
“I can say it wasn’t a bad result considering that Akwa United was the only club that defeated Lobi Stars at home last season. They are formidable opponents.
“Well, even as some of our fans are apprehensive that we might struggle due to the late change in leadership, I want to assure everyone that Lobi Stars will have an outstanding season.
“With the unflinching support of His Excellency, Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, who has given us the mandate to reposition the club for better results, we would manage the situation we have found on ground to justify the confidence reposed in us,” he said.
Yachi, therefore, called on all well-meaning football stakeholders in Benue State to join hands with the new board to uplift Lobi Stars to enviable height.
