The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen, has condemned the abduction of health workers and patients by bandits in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State.
Two nurses and scores of patients were reportedly abducted by bandits after an attack on a Primary Healthcare Centre at Layin Dan Auta village in Kuyello Ward, Birnin-Gwari LGA.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi on Tuesday, the speaker said he was deeply worried that bandits and kidnappers were becoming too daring in their nefarious activities these days.
He said, “The activities of bandits have become too rampant, especially with the last attack on vulnerable targets like a hospital.
“Our security forces need to, as a matter of emergency, go after the abductors and rescue those abducted from the health facility. They must ensure that no Nigerian kidnapped in any part of the country remains in captivity.”
In a separate statement, the speaker also mourned the victims of the accident that claimed the lives of almost 50 people and over 50 cows in Niger State.
He condoled Governor Muhammed Umar Bago and the people of the state over the tragic loss of lives while describing the accident as unfortunate.
It could be recalled that a petrol tanker had exploded after colliding with another articulated vehicle in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident occurred along the Lapai-Agaie road, 2km from Dendo community in Agaie LGA of the state.
