Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have launched The Progressive Institute (TPI) to serve as the official Policy Think Tank of the party.
The institute is saddled with the responsibility of conducting research, advising the party and mapping up a strong progressive ideology for the ruling party.
The institute was unveiled during the weekend at the Abuja Continental Hotel by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by the minister of agriculture, Alhaji Abubakar Kyari.
Speaking at the occasion, the party’s national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said: “The essence is to enhance the policy capacity of the party, especially to enable it to provide policy advice and suggestions for the consideration of governments elected on its platform.”
On his part, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, said, “The initiative is timely and in the interest of Nigerians.”
The Director General of the TPI, Olarenwaju J. Adebayo, said the institute would engender a value-driven political culture and tackle fundamental challenges by propelling positive changes in the nation’s political landscape.
Similarly, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, the Head, Media and Strategic Communication of the institute, Wale Abideen, said the institute would promote good governance in the country.
