The Nigerian Customs Service says it is committed to supporting policies of enhancing food security.
Abdullahi Maiwaida, spokesman of the service, said this while giving update on guidelines for implementation of zero duty rate on some basic food items.
The Federal Government had directed that authorities of the Nigeria Customs Services (NCS) to give a 150-day duty-free window to allow the importation of maize, husked brown rice and wheat, the policy implementation is yet to commence.
In July, the Presidential Accelerated and Stabilisation Advancement Plan, had recommended the initiative as part of measures to combat rising food inflation across the country.
In a statement, Maiwada gave an update on the development.
