The Chairman Gombe State Athletics Association, Ahmed Shu’aibu Gara-Gombe has initiated the inaugural Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championship in Gombe, marking a significant step in promoting sports within the state.
Gara-Gombe, who played a crucial role in the extensive renovation of the camp located at Mu’azu Bolari Primary and Secondary School, now named the Games Village, is dedicated to ensuring the successful execution of the event. His efforts have drawn the attention of sports enthusiasts and stakeholders across the state, encouraging widespread participation.
In a virtual meeting held on Tuesday, the Main Organizing Committee (MOC), chaired by Gara-Gombe, reviewed progress reports from three key subcommittees: Transport, Accommodation, Media, and Technical. The meeting reflected growing enthusiasm as preparations continued to advance.
Mr. Tanko Adamu, the MOC Secretary, delivered an optimistic report on the ongoing work at the Games Village. He commended Hon. Gara-Gombe’s unwavering financial support, which has been instrumental in pushing the project forward.

In an update from the Media Committee, led by Secretary Yakubu Maikudi, the latest radio jingles and social media promotions were unveiled. These initiatives aim to keep athletes, game masters, and participating schools informed and engaged.
On the technical front, Simon Ayuba, Secretary of the Technical Committee, confirmed that the competition dates have been finalized. These dates will be officially communicated to school administrators once schools resume after the third term break.
