FG urges compliance with CIPMN Act, approves new logo

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the federal government and the private sector to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Act of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN).

He made this call during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Project Management Week, organized by the CIPMN in Abuja.

While congratulating the President of CIPMN, Dr. Jamilu Isa Yankwashi, and his council members on their election victory, the minister said, “The CIPMN Institute has made the right choice in electing Dr. Yankwashi as President, given his commitment and experience in project management. I am confident that under his leadership, the institute will successfully fulfil its mandate to regulate project management practices in Nigeria.”

He stressed the importance of registering and licensing project managers through the CIPMN to avoid legal repercussions.

“I wish to call on all MDAs and the private sector not to award any contracts to persons or companies who are not registered and duly licensed by the CIPMN Institute, as it is now a criminal offense under Section 19 of the CIPMN Establishment Act 2017,” he warned.

According to Sununu, violations could result in imprisonment for up to two years.

The minister also emphasised the importance of using only the authentic logo of the CIPMN Institute, which he endorsed, while calling on all MDAs and the general public to ensure that they conduct their transactions with the legitimate leadership of the CIPMN, under Dr. Yankwashi’s presidency.

“The Federal Ministry of Education will not recognize any certificates issued using fake logos from impersonators, as we are committed to upholding the rule of law and complying with court rulings,” he added.
