Former Rivers United captain and striker, Nyima Nwagua, is on the verge of joining the Saudi Arabian second-tier side, AlSadd Club.
The 31-year-old had a solid season with Rivers United, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 34 NPFL matches, contributing to the team’s 8th-place finish, just nine points shy of continental qualification.
Nwagua played a crucial role in Rivers United’s 2021/2022 NPFL title-winning campaign, securing the championship with four games remaining.
AlSadd confirmed his signing via their official social media, announcing that Nwagua will join the team for the upcoming season.

Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, Nwagua was welcomed by Mohannad Aldousery, the supervisor of AlSadd Club’s first team, who assisted him in settling in and finalizing the deal.
As Nwagua enters the later stages of his career, a move abroad was a logical step, especially considering the financial benefits. His experience and leadership will be valuable in the dressing room, while his hard work and physicality will be assets on the pitch.
Rivers United will now look to the transfer market to find a replacement striker before the new NPFL season begins.
