Father of child born with four legs cries out for help

Isa Hussaini, the father of a child born with four legs, has appealed for help from kind-hearted individuals to support either the surgical operation or post-surgery care required for his child.

He described the unusual birth as the will of Allah but acknowledged the immense challenges his family has faced since the baby’s arrival.

Hussaini said while the birth of his child initially brought joy, that happiness was short-lived when the abnormality was discovered.

The baby, who is now one month old, was born at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital with not only four legs but also some abnormalities on one side of the head.

In an interview with Daily Trust in Maiduguri, Hussaini, a labourer, expressed the financial difficulties that have plagued his family over the past month.

He explained that he has been struggling to find work just to provide food for his family, let alone cover the medical expenses necessary to give his child a chance at a normal life.

“Nobody has helped me in the last month. I go out to look for jobs so that I can get food and do all the chores. You can’t imagine how difficult things are for us,” Hussaini said.

Despite these challenges, Hussaini expressed gratitude to the Borno State government, which, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, provided his family with N500,000, a gesture he described as a “lifesaver.”

Commenting on the medical situation, Professor Ibrahim Sanusi, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), explained that the hospital is currently conducting a series of investigations before proceeding with surgery.
