The National Under-18 Women’s Handball team is back in Lagos for their final phase of preparation ahead of the IHF Women’s Under-18 World Cup in China.
Coach Shittu Adewunmi Agboola’s team began their preparations in Benin City, Edo State, with eighteen players invited to camp for intensive training ahead of the 2024 IHF Women’s Under-18 Handball World Championship, set to take place in Chuzhou, China, from August 14 to 25, 2024.
Coach Shittu praised the first phase of camping as a rewarding experience for both players and technical staff. He also commended the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), led by Mr. Samuel Ocheho, for their continued support as the team aims to make history at the world championship.
“The first phase of training in Benin City was rewarding and worth the while not just for the players but also for the technical crew and we thank the Samuel Ocheho-led Handball Federation of Nigeria board for ensuring that we get the best of preparation ahead of the world championship.”

Nigeria is one of the four countries that will represent the continent of Africa in the World Cup after they qualified for the first time at the Africa Women’s Under 18 Handball Nations Cup in Monastir, Tunisia last year.
The team will play European giants Croatia, Montenegro and Angola in group B of the world championship which starts on August 18 at the Olympic Sports Center in Chuzhou, China.
