An NGO, BATN Foundation, has flagged off the construction of a solar borehole in Ndeabor community in Aniri LGA of Enugu State.
Speaking during the flag off, the General Manager of the British American Tobacco, Mr Oludare Odusanya, said BATN was committed to investing in solar-powered borehole infrastructure to provide potable water for the people of Ndeabor community.
He said potable water was a fundamental basic amenity that every society required, but regretted that some rural communities were still finding it difficult to access it.
He said BATN was harnessing the power of the sun to ensure that there was constant supply of clean water, promoting improved health, economic growth, community empowerment and sustainable development.

Odusanya said the facility would be equipped with four solar panels, a robust 2.2Hp water pump and two 10,000-litre tanks, noting that the gesture was in line with the foundation’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community wellbeing.
He further said, “This project stands as a testament to our dedication to sustainable initiatives that positively impact the lives of rural communities.”
Odusanya announced that the next water project would be in Gwadabawa, Sokoto State, even as he reaffirmed the foundations unwavering commitment to the socio-economic and agricultural development of smallholder farmers and women in Enugu State.
