Protest: No approval for Eagle Square- Wike

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has warned that he did not approve the use of Eagle Square for any event, which prompted the tight security measure in the area and other national infrastructures in the nation’s capital.

Wike made the clarification Wednesday while responding to questions from journalists after inspecting an ongoing road project connecting two communities in Abaji.

He said, “We don’t want to take anything for granted; we want to make sure that security is tight and intact. I never approved the use of Eagle Square for anybody, which likely informed the security measures to ensure all public areas are well protected. We will not allow hoodlums to take advantage and begin to vandalize our infrastructure.

On the road project, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, saying the project connects various communities, which will improve their livelihoods and transportation.

He emphasized that the administration was committed to providing infrastructure in rural areas to discourage urban migration.

The minister urged patience, saying many critics have not visited rural areas to see the progress being made. He cited the project as an example of the Renewed Hope Agenda in action, noting that significant infrastructure development has occurred in rural areas within the first year of President Tinubu’s administration.

City & Crime reports that Wike was accompanied by the Minister of State and other officials.
