Protest: NSCDC deploys 2,100 personnel in Edo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State has deployed 2,100 personnel to ensure that the hunger protest is peaceful in the state.

The state’s NSCDC Commandant, Mr Gbenga Agun, in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Efosa Ogbebor, said the deployment was aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all citizens during the protest.

Ogbebor said the commandant also directed the officers to take charge of their respective areas of responsibility, intensify patrols and ensure no breakdown of law and order.

The statement reads in part: “We will not tolerate any form of criminality or disruption of public peace. Law-abiding citizens should go about their legitimate businesses without fear. The corps is committed to maintaining peace and security in the state.”
