1,000 delegates converge on Ogun for NASFAT women’s wing conference

No fewer than 1,000 delegates are attending the biennial conference of the women’s wing of the Nasirul-llahi- Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) holding in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The 8th biennial women conference, which commenced on Thursday, will end on July 28. It is themed “Strengthening Women’s Leadership Through Empowerment and Islamic Values.”

Speaking at a press conference to herald the programme, the National Women Affairs Secretary of NASFAT, Alhaja Ganiyat Babalola, said the essence of the conference is to further build the women’s capacity to contribute towards having a more prosperous society.

She said the theme of the conference has been thoughtfully chosen in line with the LEAD thrust agenda of the current National Executive Council (NEC) of NASFAT revolving around leadership, empowerment, serving as an agent of change and dawah.

She cautioned Nigerian youths against violence in the wake of the planned nationwide protest over the country’s economic crisis.

Babalola said the leadership of NASFAT has embarked on sensitisation to dissuade members of the group from getting involved in any activities that run contrary to the peace, progress and stability of the country.

“We should stay away from anything that will cause chaos. NASFAT says no to violence,” she said.
