The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 23-year-old man, Ajayi Sunday, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over the alleged theft of a motorcycle.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, on July 13, 2024, in Ido-Ekiti, stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N700,000 belonging to one Adeniyi Segun.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Paul Ayantoyinbo, urged the court to grant the defendant bail
The Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to August 26.
In a related development, the police arraigned a 52-year-old man, Taye Oni, before another magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over allegedly receiving stolen vehicle parts.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant, on July 16, in Ilupeju-Ekiti, received vehicle parts stolen from the Ekiti State Electricity Board from two men, Ayodeji Olasoluyi and Olowulafe Niyi,
He asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail.
The Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to August 26.
