Police arrest 90 hoodlums in Lagos

Detectives from the Lagos State anti-crime outfit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), have arrested about 90 suspects in a midnight raid of some black spots in the metropolis.

City & Crime learnt that the raid might not be unconnected with the August 1 to 10, planned nationwide protest.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Adegoke Fayoade, had at a security meeting, directed area commanders and heads of tactical units to conduct raids on criminal hideouts in their areas of responsibility to flush out criminal elements, warning that anyone who allowed any breakdown of law and order would have themselves to blame.

Following the directive, the Commander of RRS, CSP Shole Jejeloye, in collaboration with Area A Command, raided areas in Obalende, Adeniji and Lagos Island in the wee hours of Thursday and arrested the suspects.

The command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, on his X handle, said, “Last night, operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), in collaboration with Area A Command, acting on intelligence, raided black spots in Obalende, Adeniji and Lagos Island.”
