A woman, Hajiya Bilkisu, has accused the Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) of Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano State, Malam Baban Iya, of beating her to a pulp at the government house while she was on a queue to collect N50,000 under the monthly women empowerment programme introduced by the state government.
Hajiya Bilkisu, who spoke from her sick bed, alleged that as a result of the assault, she suffered severe injuries on her face, chest, back and neck.
Speaking to journalists where she was admitted, the woman said her ordeal began after her name was dropped from the list of beneficiaries.
She alleged that one of the officials called the NNPP chairman on phone, who swiftly appeared at the venue and descended on her with blows and whipped her to a pulp.
