Police to clamp down on vehicles with covered number plates in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has threatened to go after vehicle owners who drive around with their number plates covered.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said covering of vehicle number plates is against the provisions of the National Road Traffic Regulations.

Hundeyin, in a tweet on his X handle said when a person is arrested, he would be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction.

“When convicted, punishment ranging from fines to prison terms will be served on the person.

“Ignorance is not an excuse under the law. Above all, to be forewarned is forearmed.”
