Mob beats man for using alms collected from mosque to buy beer

A man has been manhandled by a mob near the Tipper Garage in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT for using alms given to him at a mosque to buy beer.

A witness, Garba Salihu, said the incident occurred around 9am on Wednesday after the man went to the mosque to beg for alms and was found drinking alcohol in a beer parlour shortly after.

He said some people who identified the man raised the alarm after which some people, including Okada riders, went after him.

City & Crime gathered that some elders and passersby intervened and rescued the man.

One of his rescuers said, “They should spare him and let him go. God will deal with him for pretending to be a Muslim and going to a mosque to beg and ending up in a beer parlour to drink.”
