North West clerics hold prayer over insecurity

About 70 clerics from the North West have converged on Kaduna for a one-day prayer session aimed at fostering peace and development in the region.

The clerics, representing states including Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi and Katsina, also prayed for the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Nigerian Armed Forces, seeking divine intervention to help tackle the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping in the region.

The convener of the prayer session, Malam Lawal Ibrahim BK, expressed concern over the escalating insecurity in the region, hoping that the prayers would bring about peace and security.

“We decided to hold a prayer session for the North West region because the region is facing severe security challenges, including banditry and kidnapping. We also included the Chief of Defence Staff and the Nigerian Armed Forces in our prayers, hoping they can surmount any challenges they face,” Malam Lawal Ibrahim said.

He emphasised that the 70 participating clerics, all from the Northwest, are firsthand witnesses to the region’s ongoing issues.

Notable clerics in attendance included Shaikh Muhammad Nur from Katsina, Malam Jamilu Ismail from Kano, Malam Rabiu Al-Mustapha from Sokoto and Malam Kamaludeen Ismail from Zamfara.
