Completion of T’ tennis court in Bayelsa cost me over N1bn – Ebikpolade

The representative of South-South zone on the board of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, NTTF, Ama-Ebi Ebikpolade has disclosed that the completion of the dedicated world Class Table Tennis court in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State, has cost him more than one billion naira.

In an interview in Calabar, Ebikpolade said he hopes to commission the complex by the end of next month as all the major Table Tennis equipment including tables all ready.

“As you may know,  Table Tennis equipments are extremely expensive. So you can understand what I am talking about.

“The only items remaining are the doors which will arrive in Nigeria from Turkey by the end of July 2024.

“The massive hall is properly designed to fit modern Table Tennis standards. We’ve done painting, and flooring according to specifications; all enclosures are ready.

“The building has restrooms, changing rooms, stores, a restaurant, laundry section etc. Due to the topography of Bayelsa State,  the foundation alone costs me over N5m.”

He said the building of such table Tennis court is deliberate as the intent is to make Bayelsa the leading State in Table Tennis beyond the South-South.

Ebikpolade who is also chairman of the South South Table Tennis Association disclosed that he had earlier donated two TT tables each for Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River and one for Akwa Ibom States.

He hinted that the equipment will help when they kick off a zonal TT  League before the end of this year.
