A Kwara State High Court has ordered the remand in prison of one Pastor Ajiboye Abayomi Olayinka (48) over alleged rape of five female church members in Ilorin.
Olayinka, a pastor with the Land of Joy Ministry, Ganmo, was standing trial before Justice Funsho Lawal.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) told the court that one Miss Joy Godfrey reported the case to the NSCDC which led to the arrest of the accused.
According to the charge sheet, an investigation conducted revealed that Miss Joy, a co-tenant of the pastor and church member, was tricked to a house and forcefully raped with a threat to conceal the act by swearing with the Bible.

The charge reads in part: “You have since been molesting and having sexual intercourse with the victim, then 17, who claimed you abandoned her and the baby got through the affair.
“You also purportedly raped and molested four other victims: Faith Musa, Praise Sunday and Mrs Owolabi Oluwatoyin, and one Mrs Oni’s sister, who claimed you impregnated her and gave her abortion pills that almost terminated her life.”
When the issue of jurisdiction came up, the court granted the defence counsel, Bar Obaro, leave to move application for bail. Obaro noted that the offences were framed up against his client.
State counsel, Barr Abdullahi Beki, opposed the bail due to the rampancy of the crime and in the interest of justice to the victims and society.
The case was adjourned for ruling with the defendant remanded in prison.
