Adamawa Gov’t Partners with NEDC to Rehabilitate Critical Waga Bridge

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced plans to collaborate with the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) to rehabilitate the damaged Waga Bridge, a vital link between Adamawa and Borno states.

The bridge, located on a federal road in Madagali Local Government Area, was severely damaged by erosion, posing a significant threat to commuters and security operations in the region.

During an inspection visit to the bridge, Governor Fintiri emphasized the importance of the route, which leads to the Sambisa Forest and Mandara Mountains, a known hideout for Boko Haram insurgents.

He warned that if the road is allowed to deteriorate further, it would not only endanger local communities but also hinder military operations in the area.

Fintiri assured that rehabilitation work will commence immediately, as the state government is already in discussions with NEDC, the commission mandated to carry out such projects.

He stressed the critical nature of the road to both Adamawa and Borno states, highlighting the need for urgent attention.

The partnership aims to restore the bridge and ensure the safe passage of people and goods, as well as facilitate military operations in the region.

The rehabilitation project is expected to boost economic activities and enhance security in the northeast region
