Adamawa: Govt officials, vigilantes arrested for stealing

The Adamawa State Police Command has thwarted an organized crime syndicate involving staff of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and vigilante members.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command received a tip-off about the planned heist and swiftly deployed a team to the warehouse in Limawa Ward, Yola North local government area.

The police arrested eight suspects, including three ADSEMA staff and five vigilante members, and recovered 98 bags of maize, millet, and guinea corn.

The suspects, aged between 22 and 53, were caught a few hours after implementing their plan.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the DPO Jimeta and his team for their prompt response and professional conduct, leading to the arrest and recovery of the stolen grains.

He urged the public to provide information on criminal hideouts and assured the government and citizens of Adamawa State of the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
