Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has presented the staff of office to the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I).
Daily Trust reports that the historic event held on Friday at Mapo Hall, Oja Oba, Ibadan, where leaders and dignitaries defied the rain to grace the occasion.
President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu, expressed joy and satisfaction to be part of the celebration.
He noted that Oba Olakulehin’s journey to the throne was remarkable.
While calling for the support of the citizenry, the President preached unity and oneness as a way to tackle several challenges confronting the country.

Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi, (Ojaja II) among other eminent kings and traditional leaders across the country attended the occasion.
Makinde was accompanied by his Ogun counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, while the governors of Osun and Ondo States were represented by their deputies; Prince Kola Adewusi and Dr. Olaide Owolabi respectively.
Lagos and Ekiti States had their representatives on ground while former deputy governors, senators, chief justices amongst others, also attended the event.
Governor Makinde presented the staff of office to Oba Olakulehin in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by subsection 1 and 2 of section 20 of the Chiefs’ Law, Cap 28, vol. 1, laws of Oyo state, Nigeria, 2000.
In his appreciation speech, 89-year-old Oba Olakulehin, thanked Governor Makinde, kings and dignitaries as well as all Ibadan indigenes for their support.
“I thank all Ibadan people for honoring and celebrating me. May Ibadan always progress and may Nigeria never fail. We are very grateful. We appreciate all the kings present here, may they all be honoured. I thank the representative of the Nigerian president too. Thank you very much.”
Abiodun who represented all the 17 Southern Governors of Nigeria, congratulated Makinde for successfully installing the new Olubadan and expressed the goodwill and support of all the governors.
