Hunter remanded for ‘robbing, killing’ trader in Kwara

A magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has ordered the remand of a 40-year-old hunter, Lawal Usman, for allegedly robbing and killing his friend.

According to the charge sheet, the suspect conspired with another person (at large) to attack two brothers, Sanusi Idrisu and Saleh Idrisu, while they were returning from the Kara Market in Ajase-Ipo and robbed them in the process.

“Saleh was shot during the incident and was pronounced dead at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where he was rushed to.

“Investigation by police revealed that Usman conspired with the suspect at large to rob the duo and killed one of the victims in the process. He (Usman) sustained injuries on the forehead and shoulders, with his headlamp destroyed,” the charge sheet added.

Barrister Toyin Onaolapo represented the accused while Emmanuel prosecuted the case.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki, remanded the suspect and adjourned the case to July 23, 2024.
