Driver, conductor arrested for assaulting police officers

A truck driver and his conductor have been arrested over allegedly assaulting two police officers at the Ramat Park in Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, when the officers attempted to caution the driver over reckless driving.

It was learnt that one of the officers climbed the truck and was cautioning the driver when the driver pushed him down from the truck and his conductor jumped down and engaged the officer in a fight.

A witness said passers-by intervened and brought the situation under control before the arrival of more policemen from the Ikpoba Hill Division who arrested the suspects.

Spokesman of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was yet to receive a report about the incident.
