NDLEA engages youths in fight against drug abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Yobe State Command, has engaged youths in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

The NDLEA, in collaboration with the Yobe State University, Damaturu, organised a sensitisation to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking with the theme: “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention”.

The NDLEA Yobe State Commander, Abdulaziz Kayode Ogunboye, said importation, exportation, sales and trafficking of psychoactive substances was an offence in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Kayode said youths were the future leaders of Nigeria, hence that all hands must be on deck to continue to curtail the menace of illicit drugs and trafficking in Yobe State.

While seeking the collaboration of youth unions and civil society organisations, the NDLEA boss vowed to continue to fight against drug abuse and curtail the movement of illicit drugs and trafficking in the state and beyond.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Yobe State University, Prof Mala Mohammed Daura, commended the efforts of the command for choosing Yobe State University to host the programme.

Prof Daura said the university would continue to partner with NDLEA in order to curb the menace of drug abuse.
