Police officers, civilians arraigned over N322m robbery

A Kano State High Court has resumed hearing in the alleged armed robbery case charges against some police officers and civilians accused of robbing one Abubakar Sani of N322,500,000.00 million.

The accused, Ali Abubakar Zaki, Abdulkarim Ibrahim, SP Yusuf Buba, Yusuf Sabo, Inspector Rabi’u Umar and Inspector Mukhtar Kabir ‘Yan Lilo, were charged with conspiracy and armed robbery.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Barr Aishatu Salisu, told the court that while six names were contained in the charge, only four were standing trial.

According to her, she wrote to the police authorities in Kano to release two of its officers, Inspector Rabi’u Umar and Inspector Mukhtar Kabir ‘Yan Lilo, for trial but that they were yet to comply.

The Judge, Justice Farouk Lawan, adjourned the case to July 19.
