NCCC reforms will boost donor confidence – Ngelale

The Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, has said the ongoing reforms at the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) will boost donor and stakeholders’ confidence.

Ngelale told journalists in Abuja Sunday that the leadership team of the NCCC had briefed him on the work they were doing, saying Nigerians would appreciate what is going on once it is unveiled,

He also disclosed that he had met with an executive from BURN Manufacturing, a vertically-integrated, clean cooking stove manufacturing company with a factory in Kano and another one opening soon in Lagos.

The envoy further said that with the climate change situation in the country and across the world, clean cooking stove manufacturing and supply held the potential of creating wealth for the people.

He said,  “With polluting emissions from unclean cooking practices generating both climate and health crises across Nigeria’s rural settlements and urban centres, clean cooking stove manufacturing and supply hold the potential of extending lifespans, creating wealth and generating carbon credits for Nigeria’s economic development moving forward.

“I was briefed on internal reforms at the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) by the NCCC leadership team. The tremendous work being done is comprehensive and will certainly boost donor/stakeholder confidence once unveiled.”
