Police Affairs minister, IGP pledge to eradicate kidnappers, bandits in Nasarawa

The Minister of State for Police Affairs, Mrs Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, have reaffirmed their commitment to enhance community policing and combat the activities of kidnappers and bandits across Nasarawa State’s 13 local government areas.

Speaking at the Renewed Hope Agenda, Citizens Town Hall Engagement themed, “Community Policing: Building a Safer Nigeria Together” in Lafia on Wednesday, the minister emphasised the ministry’s readiness to implement a community policing strategy tailored to local needs and involving active community participation.

Mrs Suleiman-Ibrahim highlighted initiatives by her ministry and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development to improve the Nigeria Police Force’s public image through strategic branding campaigns.

She underscored government’s constitutional duty to prioritise the security and welfare of Nigerians with the Police Act of 2020 and the National Security Strategy reinforcing the Force’s role in internal security.

She assured of support for the Nasarawa State Government in combating all forms of criminality, particularly kidnapping and banditry, stressing the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens.

In his address, represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Dasuki Galadamci, IGP Egbetokun stressed the Force’s dedication to quality service delivery and eradication of criminal elements across Nasarawa State and Nigeria.
