The police in Ekiti State have arraigned three men – Adamu Abdullahi, 46, Haruna Musa, 57, and Sanni Garba, 26, at the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged illegal possession of explosives.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the suspects committed the offence on June 5 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Oriyomi alleged that the defendants had in their possession, three 32mm cartridges, detonating cord and firing cables.
He said the offences contravened section 1(c) and punishable under section 1(e) of the Explosive Act, 1964 and Explosive Regulation, 1967.
Counsel to the defendants, Ademola Richard, urged the court to grant his clients bail, promising that they would provide a credible surety.
Chief Magistrate Olarewaju Owoleso granted them a bail of N500,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till July 29 for hearing.
