Two members of a vigilante group sustained bullet injuries during exchange of gunshot with some bandits who attempted to rustle cows at Iddo community, near Janjala in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A resident of Janjala, Hashimu Bala, said the incident happened on Saturday around 5:12pm when some bandits wielding sophisticated weapons attacked a Fulani settlement at Iddo community.
He said the bandits attempted to rustle cows at the camp but some vigilantes were immediately alerted and they engaged them in a heavy shootout.
“The gun battle forced the bandits to flee and abandon the cows. However, two among the vigilantes sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire and were taken to a hospital,” he said.

Meanwhile, a suspected bandits’ informant identified as Rabilu was reportedly arrested by troops at Kagarko market.
A resident of Kagarko, Suleiman Kabiru, said the suspect, who also hawks drugs, was arrested last Thursday, which was Kagarko market day.
He added that the suspect had been evading arrest until last Thursday, adding, “Aside being a suspected bandits’ informant, the suspect also went on errand for them – buying hard drugs and foodstuff for them.”
The spokesman of the Kaduna State police command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the incident at the time of filling this report.
