The police in Delta State have killed a suspected kidnapper. The incident took place during a gun duel with the hoodlums at their hideout in an abandoned filling station along the Ughelli-Patani road. Operatives of the command also recovered arms and ammunition from the deceased.
Bright Edafe, the police public relations officer, Delta State command, disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba, saying the suspect was a member of a notorious gang involved in armed robbery and kidnapping along the Adjekota-Ogor axis of Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
He explained that on sighting the police, who were on special assignment, the hoodlums opened fire on them and they responded with a superior firepower, leading to serious injuries on one of the hoodlums while others escaped.
Edafe said the injured suspect was taken to a hospital, where he died while receiving treatment, adding that manhunt for the fleecing suspects was ongoing.
