Gunmen have kidnapped a farmer and demanded N10 million in Ugomoson community in Edo State.
A resident, Frank Okunwaye, who spoke on the incident, called on the state government to assist the community and check the insecurity ravaging the area.
He explained that following the kidnapping, residents who were mainly farmers, could no longer go to their farms.
A kidnap victim in the community, Festus Chukwuyem, who claimed he was kidnapped on June 10, while working in his farm, said he was released last week Wednesday evening after paying about N5.5m.

He said the kidnappers told him that he was kidnapped in response to their cow that was killed sometime last year.
The state police command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the command was aware of the incident.
He called on the people to give information to the police about the criminal activities in the forest so as to enable them and other sister security agencies to fight the criminals.
