Shettima affirms FG’s commitment to North East’s economic revival

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to driving economic revival and development in the North East region of the country.

He stated this on Wednesday while laying the foundation for the new headquarters of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Maiduguri.

Shettima emphasised the importance of unity in reclaiming and shaping the narrative of the North-East region.

He noted that the event demonstrated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s promise and commitment to the region, underscoring its significance to the nation.

“This institution embodies our collective resolve to transform the narrative of this region-from one marred by despair and devastation to one defined by renewal and triumph,” he said.

Shettima highlighted that the foundation-laying ceremony marked a step towards fulfilling President Tinubu’s promise to prioritize initiatives that safeguard the interests of the North East.

Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who is also the Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, praised Vice President Shettima for mobilizing support for the smooth operations of the NEDC.

Yahaya called on governors and other stakeholders from the North East states to work towards achieving the goals of the NEDC.

He lamented the devastating effects of the Boko Haram insurgency, which he said had set the North East back by 50 years.

“We need to work hard to recover the lost ground, and with Vice President Shettima’s motivation and support, we can achieve that,” he added.
