Clergy harps on proper transmission of leadership in Nigeria

Rev. Paul Emeka, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, has called on the country’s leaders to ensure the effective transmission of leadership.

During his apostolic visit to the Abuja Central District, where new executives were elected, Rev. Emeka stressed the importance of planning for power handover to successors.

The election saw the emergence of Rev. Dr. Emeka Eze as Abuja Central District Superintendent, Rev. Emmanuel Omole as Assistant District Superintendent and Rev. Abraham Odey as District Secretary.

Others are; Rev. Femi Omole, District Treasurer and Rev. Theophilus Ikechukwu as member.

Congratulating the new leaders, Rev. Emeka stated that effective power transmission is crucial for sustaining leadership success.

He emphasized that handover should not be a last-minute effort but a well-planned process.

“Handover or transmission is not a one-day job, that is why planning is necessary. We also know that poor transmission leads to poor leadership,” he said.

Rev. Emeka elaborated on the concept of transmission, highlighting the need to prepare the next generation and pass on legacies and values.

“To transmit means preparing the people for the future and passing on what you have to the next generation. The promises of God to us are massive, but we have to connect to them by ourselves,” he added.

Expressing disappointment with many of the country’s current leaders, Rev. Emeka criticized their focus on planning for the next elections rather than on mentoring the younger generation and ensuring power is transferred to the most qualified successors.

He urged leaders to adopt a selfless attitude and work for the benefit of the general public rather than a select few.
