Expelled student exhibited acts of violence, facts before court – Bingham varsity

The management of Bingham University, Karu has said their former student, Adamu Salisu Halliru was expelled for exhibiting acts of violence while chanting slogans capable of causing religious disharmony.

The Director, Public Affairs of the varsity, Daburi Bello Misal who disclosed this in a statement said these facts are before the court for determination.

He said this in reaction to a report that their former students filed a suit against the varsity at the Federal High Court in Lafia for allegedly expelling him due to his religious practices.

The report said: “Halliru, who was expelled in October 2023, claims that his fundamental human rights were violated by the university. His legal team, led by I.U. Gale Esq., argues that the expulsion was discriminatory and unjust, targeting Halliru for his Muslim faith.”

However, Misal said: “The University offers equal opportunity to all as long as students and staff abide by the rules and regulations of the institution. It is absurd to say the least that a student who has been in the university for two years and was never denied prayers would accuse the University of doing so when numerous students of the same faith have not been denied the same.”

“The university is however confident that the court would vindicate its action,” he said.
