Eid-el-Kabir, which is also known as Eid-el-Adha, is a celebration where Muslim faithful slaughter rams and other animals like cows and camels, seeking God’s reward.
It is observed on the 10th day of the Hijri month of Dhul-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar.
As it is a time of celebration and joy, what better way to celebrate than by dressing up in the latest fashion trends?
For women in Kano and other parts of Nigeria, the Eid season is a time for showcasing fashion. From flowing kaftans to stylish abayas, the fashion trends are all about elegance and sophistication.
A tailor, Musa Umar Galado of Galado Urban Fashion Attire, when asked by our reporter, said the dress style in trend for women is Kaftan Gown and Abuja Boubou.
Most women prefer this style because it’s comfortable and modest.
“The style is versatile, you can describe how you want it to be, either fitted or loose. You can decide it to be embroidered, stoned, patterned or plain. I have got more than 200 customers demanding for this style because of how easy it is.”
“This style has been in existence for a while but it came trend during Eid-el-fitr and for this upcoming Eid the demand became so high,” he said.
The most interesting part of this style are different slits it comes with. The slits can be at the back of the gown, at the front by the left side or even both sides.
Similarly, Musa Tailor of Rerass Clothing Line also, said kaftan prices are in different ranges depending on the type of accessories the client needs.
“The lowest cost of this style is 10k and it goes up to about 70k depending on how expensive the accessory is.”
Fatima Musa, a customer who always loves to wear kaftan gowns, also shared her experience.
“The reason I love kaftan is because I find it the most comfortable, modest and yet stylish. I can use for any occasion and still look elegant. I don’t think I’ll stop wearing kaftan gowns, whether in trend or not.”
