Kpaduma ll and Guzape residents have urged the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to empower local vigilantes in the area.
Kpaduma/Guzape community is a suburb inside the Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). It is dominated by the original inhabitants of the FCT .
On behalf of the community, the Secretary, Simon Yerima Baba (JP) who noted this in an interview in Abuja during the cutting down of Banana trees around the area, said it is part of the community’s effort to support the minister who also lives around the community to rid hoodlums in the area .
He said they observed that some of the trees are used as hideouts by the hoodlums.
He said the hoodlums who invade the community to perpetrate crimes are not from the community, adding that the original inhabitants are peaceful and law abiding citizens .
Baba also lauded the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the FCT minister for the giant strides so far across the FCT and that the inhabitants appreciate all his good gestures.
He said the residents are impressed with the development of the road network within the FCT, adding that they have confidence in the FCT minister and pray that God will continue to give him wisdom to do more.
On integration of the original inhabitants, the Village Head of Guzape, Chief, Bitrus T. Yakubu urged the government to reconsider the policy of integration and see how it can be reviewed for the benefits of the Abuja original inhabitants.
“FCT is our ancestral home and it should be reserved, respected and considered in the areas of compensation based on the law .”
“The Youth Leader of Kpaduma ll & Guzape, Ezra Kaura said they have a vigilante team led by him that goes about to checkmate the insecurity in the area during the day and at night.
” I have been in the community in the last 26 years and I can assure you that it is not our youths that have been committing these atrocities because we personally know all the youths in the community, ” he said .
He further called on the Minister to provide them with a patrol vehicle to help them to quickly arrive at the crime scene in the community.
On youth empowerment, the Vice Women leader of the community, Mrs. Hassana G. Simon, said they as mothers want their youth empowered, so that they don’t loiter around the community.
She said most of the youths in the community are graduates but they don’t have any tangible things they do .
Another resident of the community, Mr. Isah Bulus, called for a dialogue between the residents and the minister of FCT to ensure a smooth running of the community.
