Businessman and good governance advocate, Uba Michael, has called on government at all levels to ensure that they ensure Nigerians enjoy the dividends of democracy which the country currently practises.
Uba said this to mark June 12 celebration of Democracy Day which the country has practised since 1999.
The 2023 governorship aspirant said that delivering on promises and ensuring that the average Nigerian does not go to bed hungry is the best way to win confidence.
He said: “I’d like to congratulate President Tinubu and Nigerians for 25 years of uninterrupted democracy. It calls for celebration. It was just like yesterday when we began this journey as a nation and we’ve already gotten here.
“While we celebrate, I call for a consideration of other critical sectors of the economy like the extractive industry that includes mining and solid minerals to boost the economy. There are a lot of over-looked potentials in the mining industry that are capable of turning around the economy of this country.
“I urge the government to consider massive investment in renewable energy as it is environmentally-friendly and another avenue for investment to drive revenue growth.
“I also appeal for a fulfillment of the promises they made during their campaign. We know times are tough right now in the country, but if they make good the promises they made, I believe it would help to reduce the suffering.
“I charge every Nigerian to keep faith with the country and continue to contribute to its growth in any way they can, no matter how little.”
