Vigilantes have arrested two suspects over alleged possession of three stolen cows at the cattle market in Abaji, headquarters of Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
A vigilante, simply identified as Idris, who confirmed the arrest to our reporter on Monday, said the suspects were arrested on Sunday while trying to sell the cows.
He alleged that the suspects, who were herders between the ages of 22 and 23, stole the cows from a Fulani settlement in Tungan-Sarki community in Dafa Ward in Kwali Area Council.
He said the owner of the cows raised alarm after three of them went missing and reported to the vigilantes.
He explained that, “After the report, we alerted our members in Abaji. The vigilantes in Abaji kept monitoring every Fulani that was bringing cows to the cattle market to sell.
“On Sunday, nemesis caught up with the suspects as they came with the three cows inside a pickup looking for a buyer.’’
He further said that the owner of the cows was immediately alerted and that he came and identified the cows while the suspects were taken away in a security van.
The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, said she was not aware of the incident.
