Four suspected kidnappers have been arrested when operatives of a joint security taskforce from the FCT stormed bandits’ hideout at Gidan – Dogo and Kweti villages in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
The FCT police commissioner, Benneth Igweh, who disclosed this to newsmen at the command in Abuja at the weekend, said the joint operation was carried out in synergy with the police anti-kidnap officers, guards brigade, officials of the Department of State
Security Services (DSS) hunters and the vigilantes.
He said the operation was carried out at about 10 am last Friday in the two villages, which boarders Kaduna and the FCT.

He gave the names of the arrested suspects as Yahaya Abubakar, a resident of Mpape.in Abuja, Mohammed Mohamed, a resident of Zuba, Gwagwalada area council, who is also an ex-convict, Umar Aliyu and Nura Abdullahi who are also ex-convict and reside at Kubwa and Zuba hills respectively.
According to him, the suspects freely confessed to being members of a notorious bandit syndicate with the name ‘Mai One Million’, that has been responsible for series of kidnappings and other heinous crimes in the FCT and its environs.
The police commissioner said the coordinated operation resulted to a shootout between the bandits and the joint security operatives, which he said forced the bandits to scamper for safety.
“Some of the abducted victims were also rescued, while the illegally erected structures by the bandits in all the patrolled camps were decimated,” he said.
He said the rescued victims had been reunited with their families and loved ones.
