Govt, firm to establish 10m metric tons capacity cement factory

The Bauchi State Government has entered into an agreement with Resident Cement Factory Limited for the establishment of a 10 million metric tons capacity cement factory to be located in Gwana District of Alkaleri LGA of the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed this shortly after meeting with a delegation from the cement company at the government house to finalize the modalities.

The governor explained that the agreement is in line with his administration’s commitment towards unbundling the abundant natural resources in the state to generate more revenue as well as job opportunities.

He said the establishment of the cement factory is coming at a time the state government was determined to provide the needed human capital to participate fully in oil and gas exploration.

The governor also explained that efforts are in top gear to secure more funds to settle compensation for land owners in Alkaleri Local Government as the area has been declared an industrial zone of the state and for the North East Region.

Mohammed assured the investors on the security of their investment and described Bauchi State as the most peaceful state in the northeast.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, who is the Group Chairman, Resident Cement Factory Limited, Dr Abbas Junaid Waziri, said about 10,000 people have been targeted to be employed in the factory when established, in addition to revenue generation to state.
