Coalition calls for suspension of APC Women Leader

The National Women coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the suspension of the National Women Leader of the party, Dr. Mary Alile Idele.

In a statement on Saturday, chairperson of the coalition, Deborah Mathew Osanyani, faulted the leadership style of Idele.

Osanyanii accused Idele of fanning the embers of disunity within the women folk in the party and also being insensitive to the plight of women.

She said Idele was unable to unite the largest voting bloc (Women) of the party in the 2023 presidential election.

“A group of women staged a protest at the party headquarters a few days ago, calling for Alile’s resignation, this is a pointer to the inequitable leadership style that has continued to weaken the women wing of the party.”

“We hereby strongly call on the leadership of the party to suspend the National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile Idele and carry out a wholistic investigation into allegations of gross misconduct and misappropriation of various items meant for the women under her watch.

“Alile is now running from pillar to post arranging endorsements, obtaining transactional and virtual support to save her face. We will continue to raise our voices and cry out for justice until the right thing is done. Alile-Idele is gradually destroying the women wing of the party and weakening it by her actions, we will not stand by and watch an insensitive leader destroy the hard work of millions of women in the APC.

“We therefore re-echo the need for an investigation into Alile’s lack of capacity to lead the women of this great party, and should be suspended so as not to interfere with the process of investigation.”

Attempt to reach the APC women leader over the issue did not yield result as her phone was out of reach.
