A 32-year-old housewife, Mrs Maimuna Aliyu, slipped and died while fetching water inside rain at Bako village in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday.

A neighbour who simply identified himself as Usman, said the incident happened about 8:12 am when the deceased, a mother of four children, was fetching water inside a drum in her compound.

He said that while it rained heavily, the young woman carried a basin to fetch water from the drum into her house, but she missed her steps and slipped.

He said the woman’s husband had left for farm alongside two of her children when the incident happened.

He said the woman was unconscious when she was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, she was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

There was no reaction from the police authorities over the incident at the time of filing this report, but Maimuna’s husband described her death as natural.
