The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned three men, Samuel Agebaga (28), Kuhan Torkuma Richard (21) and Igba Simon (28), in an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over breach of peace and possession of hemp.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court yesterday that the defendants on May 29, at about 10am on Ise-Ekiti Road, Ikere-Ekiti, constituted themselves into a nuisance in a public place and that they had in their possession weeds suspected to be hemp.
Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Folajimi Akinwon, urged the court to grant them bail.
The Magistrate, A. O. Owoleso, granted bail of N80,000 to each and adjourned the case to July 23.
Similarly, a man, Olatawura Oluwaseun (28), was charged with negligent and dangerous driving and causing severe injuries on three persons.
Inspector Oriyomi told the court that the defendant, on May 28, drove a Lexus saloon dangerously and collided with two motorcycles which caused severe injuries on three persons, Ajayi Joshua (24), Talabi Pius (40) and Olajide Feranmi (18), contrary to and punishable under the Road Traffic Laws (RTL) of Ekiti State 2011.
Counsel to the defendant, Adegboyega Falowo, urged the court to grant bail to his client.
Magistrate Owoleso granted a bail of N500,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case to June 28.
