Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has commissioned 40 transformers and electrical accessories worth N900 million to boost electricity supply in the state.
The 40 transformers were procured at the cost of 395,850,000, while electrical accessories and installation cost 515,975,000,00.
Some of the communities that benefitted from the distribution of the transformers are Yauri, Bunza, Argungu, Badariya, Aliero Quarters, Bayan Oando in Birnin Kebbi and Jega.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Idris said the transformers were procured based on request from different communities in the state.
“We already assured Kebbi people that we would always meet their needs. We will not hesitate to do whatever will improve power supply in Kebbi State,” he said.
He added that his administration also procured electrical materials to boost electricity supply in various communities of the state, saying that gone were the days when people were asked to donate for procurement of transformers.
He said the transformers and electrical accessories would be distributed to various communities to replace the old and faulty ones for improved electricity supply in the state.
