More than 21 children have so far been recovered from a syndicate accused of stealing children from Sokoto State and transported them to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
City & Crime had earlier in May reported how five children, including a two-week-old baby, were brought to the FCT from the state by a female police officer, in collaboration with another woman, in what appeared to be a case of abduction.
The two suspects, ASP Kulu Dogonyaro, who serves at the juvenile women and children unit in the Kubwa Police Division, and her accomplice, Elizabeth Ojah, were suspected by their co-travellers inside a commercial bus they boarded, over how they were handling the kids.
On arriving in Abuja, the bus driver, along with other Good Samaritans, took them to the police station instead of the nearby Dei-Dei, where they demanded to disembark.

Our reporter who has been following the situation learnt that the Sokoto State police command, where the case was transferred to, recently paraded the two suspects along with one of their collaborators, Bala Abubakar of Tudun Wada area.
The commissioner of police in the state, Ali Hayatu Kaigama, said the command had so far traced and recovered 21 children from some states out of the ones taken by the syndicate from Sokoto under the guise of providing them with good upbringing at some non-governmental organisations.
He alleged that Bala Abubakar supplied 28 children to the syndicate, including his five biological children and collected between N150, 000 and N250, 000 on each child.
