The Ibadan International polo tournament that hit the Oyo Kingdom with a bang came to a thrilling climax last weekend, with Lagos A1/A-plus, Caverton/Saopolo and Ibadan Durante teams writing their names in gold as proud winners of the 2024 edition of polo event of the prestigious fiesta.
The international polo festival fiesta that put Ibadan on the polo map as one of the polo playing cities in the world saw Lagos A1/A-plus outpacing former champions and home crowd favourites, Lead City in the race for Ibadan Cup, for their first-ever major title in the event.
The final of the event’s second biggest prize, the Rotimi Cup was full of excitement and drama as two local rivals, Lagos GDF Global took on their Lagos Caverton/Saopolo rivals in a make or mar clash that kept the crowd on its feet from start to finish.

Polo Royals reported that at the end of the four fiercely fought four chukkas final, it was the Caverton/Saopolo side that emerged the winners, while GDF team earned the Rotimi Cup runners-up prize.
That leaves Ibadan Durante team that has been active throughout the season since their victory in Lagos earlier in the year, to clinch the third-place prize in a glamorous fiesta that pitch over six equally matched teams from Lagos and Port Harcourt playing with the full complement of their patrons and a discerning home crowd.
