Livestock market chief arrested for supplying rustled cattle

The police in the FCT have continued to investigate a leader at the Abuja livestock market in Dei-Dei, Alhaji Yalleri, over alleged complicity in supplying stolen cattle from Zamfara State.

Yalleri, referred to as the Sarkin Fulani of the livestock market, was said to have been arrested along with three others on Saturday by the security operatives, who went there with another suspect tied inside a Hilux van.

A witness, who would not like his name to be disclosed, told City & Crime that the tied man pointed at the leader, who was beaten by the operatives from the scene, and immediately bundled him into the vehicle along with the three others.

Another source revealed that “The Sarkin Fulani was entrusted with some cattle for sale and that they all appeared to be stolen as all the animals were females, which is unusual in this market.”

Supreme leader of the market and the Sarkin-Zango of Dei-Dei, Mallam Muhammadu Sada Kusada, confirmed the arrest but declined further comments.

He told City & Crime that he would only comment on the incident after his visit to the arrested chief on Wednesday.

Subsequent calls made to him late Wednesday and Thursday morning were terminated from his end.

Contacted, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, S.P Josephine Adeh, promised to make findings about the incident and revert.

She was however yet to do so as at the time of filing this report yesterday.
